Early morning...

The Lagoon - Langebaan

Waiting for the gate at the entrance to the West Coast National Park - opens at 7:00 am - the sun already up and hammering the tarmac did not bode well for a morning behind the lens !

20 minutes drive; access to the lagoon shoreline. Down onto the deserted beach into the blinding white sands and intense azure of shallow aquamarine brine. An imperceptible feather of cold air, then another, a bank of fog condensed around me - I was awake !

I spent little over an hour before the heat torched my "limey" forehead.

The Lagoon is on the shores and beyond the town of Langebaan in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The lagoon and town are part of the Western Cape National Park which is 120 km north of Cape Town, just off the R27, about 28km from Vredenburg and 20km from Saldanha Bay.
