Autumn

For many landscape photographers in the northern hemisphere Autumn is pinnacle of the year for image making – it seems I am no exception!

I recently visited Derbyshire with my local camera club – https://www.haycameraclub.com/ this being my first time in this wonderful location.

The trees at this time had not reached the apex of their colour spectacle this phenomenon can sometimes deliver – a little early. I spent some time exploring two heavily wooded gorges with ancient trees and cascading streams to guide my photographic adventure.

It is difficult to eke-out a composition from such a dazzling, complicated array of colour and trees. In order to capture a simple but striking image that conveys the beauty and at the same time scope of the scene, patience, awareness and light are the essential ingredients – I hope I achieved the latter in the following images:
